Allright, thanks! I am banking on the crowds being at Waco and me scoring an empty NLand lineup ;)

I am about 6'0 and 180 pounds, and I was riding a 6'0 fish there last July, and the wave had more than enough power to get me up and going. I don't know if they still crank it up as high, but that is one thing that surprised me about the wave, it had a lot of power. Like a Pacific wave. I remember seeing guys riding it when I was getting my gear together on the "beach", and it looked like a real wave. Guys were jamming, and the wave was pitching. I was kind of nervous, since it had been a while since I had surfed anything that looked like that. I saw some heavier guys ripping it up out there. One Brazilian guy who was probably in the 200 pound range, was tearing that wave up on one of the rented Lost shortboards they have there. Just my experience.

Ryan I'm about your size and I could never get much out of my shortboard there. I lost too much buoyancy. I prefer to longboard there personally.

went by there this last weekend on the way home from Austin. It was the first time for me to see it. It was a sunday and the west side had more people on it but the way the wind was blowing the other side seemed just as good that day. Looked fun to me but I didn't stay long. The guys on the east side were getting more rides and it was memorial weekend-----not that many people----middle of the day

Booked it to try with my kid this weekend since we will be in Austin anyway. Any tips? Is West or East side better for regular-footers? Is a fish or biscuit shape going to work well , or a step up shortboard is better?

That was back in September for the Lost Day and Nland. Funniest moment was one of the surf assistants trying to teach Eli Hanneman to surf. Ummmmm dude, the kid surfs better than pretty much anyone in Texas. 😂 This is Jett Schilling
