i think his wave pool is rad and it really is built for a contest
for fist place they are giving away a silver belt buckle and $500 cash for tacos and a couch trip to the northshore

Contests are often held in dribble & when those are televised they are too boring & in need of time to fill with announcer blah blah. Worst possible thing for TV or live streaming. Only the big surf events are watchable.
So Slater's on-demand perfect tube & wall to bash is exactly the future of televised surf contests. If it proves out for Olympic-level events there will be wave pools that produce his quality of wave in every 1st world country within 5 years.
If they use Slater's technology he'll be even richer than he already is.
