Yes it was a great event so kudos to Surfrider for pulling this off. My daughter competed in ladies LB so we got there at 9:10 am and stayed until 6:30 pm. Saw so many of my old frIends and TGSA amigos (Hopkins crew/Claude/Collins/Jones/Gabe/etc.). Good thing for the pier shade where we hung out most of the day with the crew. Got a session in too but drifted way down the beach since you had to keep away from the contest zone. Getting back with no beach to walk on was a challenge but great exercise. Matt it was great to meet you and put a face to your name. I was really stoked about the day.

It was good seeing you yesterday JS and moon doggie hope they do it again next year!

Yes too hot and humid. Cool mountain air is the formula. I don't know about the permits Matt. Technically you are not supposed to have beer on the beach/ wall but they are so maybe they got some exceptions since it's a non profit fund raiser. E- mail them on their website.

I got asked to be there tomorrow’ for SUPs but I know G-town requires a beach vendor permit and I didn’t want to make $200 buck and get a $500 ticket. I’ve dealt with this before if you couldn’t be tell already.

My daughter Rachel signed up for the competition which means I need to have be there by 9:00 am. This should be an awesome event and benefit Surfrider and their mission. I have been a member for 25 years. See you folks there Saturday.

Matt personally I would not chance that on an international flight these days. They are very serious about anything that looks like drug paraphernalia. I have been to Costa Rica 5 times and the bud is terrible and I can't figure out why with their climate.

Speaking of 420, has anyone ever snuck a vape pen on an international flight? Costa Rican bud is terrible.

So will the pier be closed for fishing Saturday? No fun tangling with the fishermen when there is some surf. The forecast is calling for knee-thigh surf so it could be fun on a long board. We plan to be there for the day. Cowabunga!

I've driven past there quite a few times when it looked to be working pretty well and no one out even when all the jetties east of 61st were crowded. Always wondered why no one was ever surfing there. Figured it was the rocky water entry at high tide and no sandy beach to chill on between sessions. Looks like a fun event!

Haven’t surfed there in forever but there used to be some gnarly old posts on the west side of the pier.

I've caught a shit ton of good days there all by myself. great longboard spot, has to be good and or big for shortboards. days good enough to shortboard usually make you pay the price getting in and out of the rocks. I'm stoked to see something surf related there, never would have thought I'd seen the day..

I surfed that pier during TS Alberto in 2006. Really fun on a groundswell.

Hell yeah! I've wanted to surf there since I was a teenager. Don't know why I haven't yet, but this looks like a good opportunity to do so. #stoked

Yup! Surf, music, & beer. Hard to go wrong with that combination. Always a good excuse for a gathering. Jimmy has been very accomodating.
