Nick nailed it, they needed to get trials and rd 1 done and dusted asap given the forecast.. looks fun now which means probably way too small to run today.. tomorrow and Monday look good though!

I don't know, the forecast window doesn't sound all that hopeful, according to Surfline. Non-elimination round so I figure they just wanted to get it rolling and out of the way.

i think the old guard of the ASP would not have run it in the bad conditions...

pipeline invitational aka local trials should start tomorrow and will take the whole day.. 32 man whittled down to 2 wildcard entries into rd 1 of the big show, likely the day after? close title race, hope it is decided in good pipe!
