August 12 we are doing a paddle out for my friend Allan Navo who recently died from cancer. All boards, boats, paddlecraft etc are welcome. We’ll start at 11am. BYOB and celebrate the life of my friend and paddle race team mate a nd waterman at SS Jetty Park!

It was a good turnout. We had to finish in the shorebreak, a lot of the folks that paddled out were first timers related to Allan who got washed out. Haha, it was a great time.

He was from here originally. He spent some time in the Air Force working in the space program. He got to the rank of Major and retired. We did a lot of SUP together, but we surfed a bit too. Last time he was healthy enough to surf was some TS swell in 2016. I think after that his health went south and I don’t think he was active again, but he would still come down and hang out at the beach or whatever.
