It's a 200 mile sailing event for small sailboats. It starts in Port Isabel on Monday morning and finishes in Port Lavaca on Saturday.

From what I understand, the El Ride host changed their business model and it became too much of a hassle for Bones. There was a lot of history there between the spats and fashionistas. I thought the FB group would be more civil since most people are using their real profiles. But I was wrong. What I miss are the OTB reports. They don't seem to be as frequent here or on FB.

Yes it is really sad over there and it reminds me of the dark side of El Ride. But some folks just love drama. Me I avoid drama with a passion. It's pleasant here and all about surfing. Thanks Matt for giving us the format.

THE el GULF surfer page on Facebook has all the high drama to low surf content you could ever hope for. I like to watch the people bitch at each other and talk about blocking each other.

Stoked's youtube channel is comedy gold. If he ever sees me post this his buddies will "have a conversation" with me.

This site wasnt meant to be the new El Ride, we just talked about doing this for a while and it seemed like a good time to do it.

El ride seemed to move faster almost like a chat room some days- this site is kinda lifeless at the moment-but damn posting pictures is way easier..........maybe it will pick up soon when the spring surf kicks in

What ElRide really helped me with besides surf reports and community, was how the collective weather forecasting/surf forecasting knowledge called both Ike in 2008 and Harvey last year days before the local media really started to talk about it. Definitely appreciative of that
